LUDHIANA: Department of Public Administration of Government College for Girls organised a paper reading contest on the topic ‘Role of youth in nation building’.

Department of Public Administration of Government College for Girls organised a paper reading contest on the topic ‘Role of youth in nation building’. The contest was organised under the guidance of head of the department Rakesh Kumar and Dinesh Sharda, Department of Public Administration, Savita Sharma, Principal, GCG, appeared as the chief guest. She addressed the gathering and spoke on the importance of youth in the nation building. She further encouraged the young students to work for the betterment of the country. A PPT on Niti Aayog was also presented by a student. Gurmeet Singh from Department of Economics appeared as the judge for the event. In this competition, Mehak Sood, Diksha, Nidhi bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively. In the end winners were awarded. 

IT event organised 

‘Brain Googler 2019’ with the theme- ‘Google Your Brain and Apply Concepts in Practice’ was organised by the PG Department of Computer Science of Kamla Lohtia SD College. As a part of the event, three competitions – code development, website designing and digital poster making were also held. The event was structured with the purpose in inculcating analytical, designing and coding skills in the students with the ultimate objective of promoting their expertise in the field of information technology.

Blockchain seminar 

The Computer Applications Department of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi in association with Up2Mark Technologies Private Limited organised a one-day seminar ‘Tech Trends- 2019’ to discuss the latest trends in the field of IT with the BCA and MCA students of GGNIMT and GGNIVS. Sunita Sharma, Soft Skills and personality development coach, while deliberating on the topic “Role of communication in IT” said communication skill was the most important skill that the interviewers look for in a candidate. She added that it was a vital skill for employees of an organisation. She further mentioned that an IT professional should be able to understand the needs of the client or the employer and deliver technology solutions accordingly. She exhorted that communication skills were as important as any other technical knowledge of an individual and these skills could go a long way in helping the candidates successfully climb the ladder of hierarchy within an organisation.

World Water Day observed

Khalsa college for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, under the Health and Environment Cell in collaboration with IQAC observed World Water Day. The theme of the current year is ‘Leave no one behind’. Jasdeep Kaur, Assistant Professor of Economics, enlightened the students about water scarcity in world and water saving techniques. Principal Gurinder Kaur Sandhu also motivated the staff and students to use water economically. TNS

Jallianwala Bagh centenary year

Ludhiana: GHG Khalsa College of Education organised a special morning assembly to commemorate Jallianwala Bagh centenary year. All students and the faculty members enthusiastically participated in the assembly. A pledge taking ceremony was held on the occasion. — TNS
