Annual mid term CME of the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS), North Zone, was held at Hotel Nirvana here.

It was organised by Dr Rajeev Gupta, senior consultant, Manas Hospital (organising chairperson) and Dr Sandeep Kumar Goyal, senior consultant, SPS Hospitals (Organising Secretary).

Dr Rajeev Gupta, organising chairperson said the theme for the conference was newer developments in Psychiatry. He talked about the psychiatric problems. The CME was inaugurated Dr Ajit Avasthi, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at PGI Chandigarh.

The chief guest spoke about the newer developments in the field of Psychiatry and the need of psychiatrists to be aware of the recent advances in the field.

Dr Sandeep Kumar Goyal, said the CME was attended by more than 200 psychiatrists and mental health professionals from the North zone which comprises Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Delhi and 14 research papers were presented.

Dr Suresh Bada Math Bangalore, conducted a workshop on how to setup Telepsychiatry unit. Dr Sandeep Grover, Chandigarh, spoke about the cognitive metabolic syndrome. Dr Bhasker Mukharjee from Calcutta spoke on the use of health apps in psychiatry practice and Dr Parmod Kumar from Chandigarh apprised the audience of new challenges for a young psychiatrist in current scenario.
