Chandigarh score 394 runs in 1st innings

LUDHIANA: Overcoming the initial hiccups, Chandigarh managed to post a decent total of 394 runs in the first innings in the match against Ludhiana in the Punjab Inter-District (U-23) Cricket Tournament being played at GRD Academy, Hambran Road, here on Tuesday.

Overcoming the initial hiccups, Chandigarh managed to post a decent total of 394 runs in the first innings in the match against Ludhiana in the Punjab Inter-District (U-23) Cricket Tournament being played at GRD Academy, Hambran Road, here on Tuesday.

Chandigarh skipper Bhagminder Lather won the toss and opted to bat first. The visitors had a shaky start, losing three wickets with the scoreboard reading 42 for 3.

Then the pair of Ayush Sikka and Raman Bishnoi shared a useful partnership of 83 runs for the fourth wicket. Ayush departed after contributing 32 runs.

Raman and Pardeep Yadav took the score to 180 before the latter losing his wicket with his individual score of 24 runs.

Skipper Bhagminder Lather joined Raman Bishnoi and the duo put on 204 runs for the sixth wicket. Raman faced 230 balls during his stay of 333 minutes at the wicket and remained unbeaten on 164 runs, laced with 16 hits over the fence and one six while Lather made 112 runs off 153 balls with the help of three sixes and 11 boundaries.

For the hosts, Rahul Khanna was the main wicket-taker, securing three wickets for 89 runs in 16 overs while Gurmehar Singh scalped two victims for 101 runs in 29 overs and Gobindjot Singh sent down eight overs and grabbed one wicket after conceding 41 runs.
