LUDHIANA: Special task force has nabbed two brothers among three smugglers and recovered 100 gram of heroin worth several lakhs from their possession.

Special task force has nabbed two brothers among three smugglers and recovered 100 gram of heroin worth several lakhs from their possession. The suspects have been identified as Ishar Singh Soni (28), his brother Bhupinder Singh Bhinda (30), both residents of Iqbal Nagar, Tibba; and Sudhir Kumar Kalu (21) of Tibba.

Ludhiana STF in-charge Harbans Singh said the police got secret information that the suspects were to supply a huge quantity of heroin to their clients on Friday. A team of the STF raided the house of the two brothers at Iqbal Nagar and nabbed them along with their accomplice and the heroin.

Ishar, a drug addict, told the police that he had been into the drug trade for the past three years. His brother Bhupinder said he was an auto-rickshaw driver and started smuggling drugs one year ago.

Harbans said the police would produce the suspects before the court to seek their remand.

The STF also nabbed a smuggler with 380 gram of heroin. The suspect, Vinod Kumar of EWS Colony was arrested at a naka on Tajpur Road. He had been into drug smuggling for the past four years and was already facing cases of snatching, pick-pocketing and smuggling.

Vinod had come out of jail on bail a month ago. He brought heroin from a smuggler who lived at EWS Colony.

In yet another case of the NDPS Act, the Dehlon police nabbed two drug smugglers with 14 gram of heroin. The suspects, Sandeep Kumar of Jassian Road and Gurpreet Singh of Saiyan Khurd village, were arrested at a naka near Khanpur village following a tip-off.
