One killed, 2 injured in road accident, car driver held

Ludhiana, November 18

The Meharban police have arrested one Raj Kumar of Golden Colony for rash driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder for a road accident, in which a person died, while two other were injured near Mattewara T-point on Saturday.

Complainant Amrit Pal of Mangli Tanda village, who is still under treatment at Kalyan Hospital, said he was returning home after duty with his father Mangat Singh (55) on his motorcycle and another person identified as Malkit Singh (30) was also driving along.

He said: “When we reached Goyal Factory near Mattewara T-point, the accused came from Mattewara side on his speeding Swift car (PB-08CB-2220) and hit both motorcycles – first Malkit’s and then mine.” Amrit Pal, his father and Malkit were injured. While the complainant was taken to Kalyan Hospital, two others with grievous injuries were rushed to Arora Hospital in the city, where Mangat Singh succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, while Malkit was still under treatment.
