Thanks to technology, learning foreign languages has become more fun and residents are making the most of mobile apps these days.

There are a slew of mobile apps which make learning of foreign languages much more interesting and easier nowadays. More and more residents are seen taking interest in foreign languages thanks to these mobile apps.

Residents say these apps have become a good way to learn foreign languages and are more interesting than the traditional way of learning from books. “I always wanted to learn French, and even tried to learn the language. But my interest started waning after some time,” said Jasneet, a resident. “But with a couple of apps in my smartphone, I have a much better grip on the language and in more interesting way,” he said.

“It is said learning different languages expand your horizons and it is the first window into any culture. So it is fun to learn and speak new words,” said Aman, an executive.

Some of the apps even allow friends to learn along side. “Having friends to learn the app makes it much more fun. And the app keeps a tab on their progress and in a way we have a friendly competition as well,” Rijak, a student said. The apps that have become available now are even better than those that were available say around a couple of years ago, say residents.

The game-like interface in some of the apps also keeps one going. “Once you learn a language through an app, one can go into the depths of the language. Thus it is definitely proving to be a good help,” said Preeti another student. “Instead of playing games on a mobile, I spend time learning Spanish,” he said.
