Ludhiana, February 15

Nehal Wadhera, a student of BA-1 of Satish Chander Dhawan Government College, Ludhiana, has been selected as captain of the Under-19 cricket team of the country in the upcoming Quadrangular Series beginning from March 5 this year at Oman.

“This is a moment of great pride for his parents, teachers and citizens of Ludhiana,” said Dr Dharam Singh Sandhu, principal of SCD Government College.

His father Kamal Wadhera, who was also a student here at SCD, said cricket developed as his passion from childhood when he would play with the toy bat and ball.

He added that in the inter-state matches, Nehal had played in all categories – Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19. He had captained the Under-14 state team in 2014.

His selection is a bright feather in the glorious centenary celebrations of SCD Government College, said Dr Dharam Singh Sandhu. — OC
