Solar power at Sutlej Club soon

LUDHIANA: Under the “net-metering” policy of the state government, a solar power plant will soon be installed at Sutlej Club here.

Under the “net-metering” policy of the state government, a solar power plant will soon be installed at Sutlej Club here.

Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal said a 60-KW plant will be installed at the club. Anupam Nanda, District Manager, Punjab Energy Development Agency, said the club could save the power bills up to 80 per cent with this plant.

For the installation of the plant, about Rs 36 lakh will be spent. Once it gets started, 240 unit of electricity will be produced daily.

The club would save approximately Rs 2,500 daily, said Nanda.

Nanda said under the net metering project, the state government was providing subsidy to the tune of Rs 21,000 per killo watt (KW). For installing solar plant of one KW, Rs 70,000 were the approximate expenses.

Nanda said any individual could instal a solar plant at his/her rooftop. He said to create awareness among the masses, seminars and exhibitions were being organised by the department.
