With Independence Day on Wednesday, the sale of Khadi products has gone up. People are buying khadi kurtas, caps, jackets and the Tricolour made of khadi will also be hoisted at different places.

Khadi Bhandar at Chaura Bazar is seeing a huge rush of customers for the past 10 days. "We have already sold more than 50 flags. The flags of different sizes are available and the prices range from Rs 650 to Rs 1,750," said Surinder Kumar Sharma, manager of Khadi Bhandar.

He said besides flags, Nehru caps are also in demand. In addition to this, it is usually around national days such as Independence Day, Republic Day, birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru that people come to buy khadi stuff.

He said with the Central Government promoting Khadi, people are increasingly buying the fabric for their daily wears.

Monika, a banker said, "Independence Day is an appropriate day to wear the Khadi kurta and I will be donning a new kurta on Wednesday."
