Teachers from various government schools today protested against the duties of the Booth Level Officers (BLO) assigned to them despite the fact that the Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, had written to the deputy commissioners and asked them to exempt school teachers from duties of BLOs as it adversely affects the studies of students.

The Education Secretary had suggested that instead of teaching staff, the non-teaching staff could be used for the month-long verification process.

Ramanjit Singh, Another teacher, said on one hand, there was pressure on tecahers to deliver good results of students, and on the other, they keep getting non-teaching duties assigned. “If we will be going out on duties for a month then who will take care of the studies of students. We should not be assigned these duties,” he said.

Teachers have submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
