The Lok Insaaf Party chief, MLA Simarjit Singh Bains, said he raised the issues of cow cess and encroachments made by some influential persons in the Punjab Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
“I demanded from the government to take steps for the welfare of cows in the state. The government has introduced cow cess but the collected amount is not being used for the welfare of cows in a right manner,” he added.
“The land mafia and some influential persons encroached on government land at various locations. I have demanded from the government to get these encroached sites vacated at the earliest,” he said.
Bains said the party was ready for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and they, under the Punjab Democratic Alliance, would contest elections from all 13 constituencies of the state.
