SAMRALA: A youth was killed while two were injured in a road accident near Pal Majra on the Garhi-Neelon Sirhand Canal road on Thursday night.

A youth was killed while two were injured in a road accident near Pal Majra on the Garhi-Neelon Sirhand Canal road on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ashishpal (17), while the injured are as Gurdit and Karan, all residents of Indira Colony in Macchiwara.

Sources said the youths belonged to poor families and often worked as waiters in wedding functions. Last evening, when they were returning towards Macchiwara when their motorcycle rammed into a truck parked on a roadside near Pal Majra.

Ashishpal died on the spot while the remaining two were taken to the Samrala Civil Hospital, from where they were referred to Ludhiana.

Samrala SHO said the body of the deceased was handed over to his guardians after post-mortem. The Samrala police have registered a case against truck driver under Section 283, 304-A, 337, 338 of the IPC. The truck driver had fled the spot after the accident.
