For fans of Salman Khan, things like script, story or screenplay are immaterial; they just love bhai and his movies. And for sure, this bhai entertains them too!

We have the same scenario repeated in Punjabi film Sardaarji 2. The film clearly lacks crisp direction and well-drafted storyline, and the only plus factor of the film is Diljit Dosanjh.

Directed by Rohit Jugraj, who has given films like Jatt James Bond and Sardaar ji, Sardaarji 2 couldn’t reap a good harvest. To begin with, one sees too many unnecessary characters in Sardaarji 2; there being or not being hasn’t made any difference to the film. The core plot of the film is good; it deals with progressive farming in Punjab, all the same this plot hasn’t been ploughed well in the film. On the other hand, showing a good and evil side of one person is an interesting thing that the director has done.

Just like the unwanted characters, you’d encounter plenty of unwanted scenes in Sardaarji 2 as well.  For one, you can’t decide whether the film is slow or moving way too fast and missing the plot!

Now, coming to the only person, who without any streamlined direction or streamlined dialogues could have anyways pulled the film, Diljit Dosanjh. The only time that you will laugh is when Jaggi Khuwala (Diljit) says something. As for other times, you want to Whatsapp the director to ask, ‘do you expect us to laugh here?’

Diljit in his previous Punjabi films has already proved that he has a superb comic timing; had it been for a well-knit story and direction, this Sardaarji could have given the best produce, second time too! It is for the first time that we see a six-pack Diljit Dosanjh, which is indeed refreshing, and so is his chadra kurta look that we had a peek-a-boo his hit song ‘5 Taara’.

Talking about characters that were probably crafted after the writer had a glass of lassi and sat in the shade of a field, in a state of delirium; Jaswinder Bhalla, the bhoot of Sardaarji, becomes the don from Pakistan in Sardaarji 2. The director hasn’t worked on this character much. Next up is Yashpal Sharma; what a waste of a character of such calibre. The film has two pretty women, Monica Gill and Sonam Bajwa. While Monica is appreciated for her spunky acting, Sonam gets marks for her perfect pout. It seems the actress was so busy taking care of her hair and dresses that she forgot to act in the film!

The music of the film is foot-tapping and likeable, especially the song Jatt Da Pyjama. Sardaarji 2 has a subtle message for the farmers of Punjab, which comes out clearly in the climax speech that lifts the film for a moment. If the film belongs to anyone, it is the Sardaarji himself - Diljit Dosanjh. It seems he is the only one who has worked in the field!
