Patna, May 22

Baal Leela Gurdwara in Patna has begun ‘Gur ka langar’ for patients and their attendants at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). An intiative by Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale, meals are cooked for about 400 people with the help of ‘sewadars’ at the gurdwara and carried to the PMCH for patients and attendants in an airconditioned van.

“Baba Bhuriwale thought of serving ‘langar’ as restaurants in the hospital vicinity charge exorbitant rates,” says Manoj Trivedi, chief representative of Baal Leela Gurdwara. On the government nod for ‘langar’ inside the health hub, he replies: “The Health Department is yet to grant permission for it but the process is underway. We need permanent sheds to serve meals. It the government agrees, we are ready to raise these on our own.”
