New Delhi, February 24

The Congress today stepped up its attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the unfolding bank frauds. The party demanded immediate probe by the RBI and regulations to ensure that scamsters don’t escape the law.

Leading the attack on the PM was Congress president Rahul Gandhi who today initiated a new hashtag on Twitter — #ModiRobsIndia – close on the heels of the BJP taking serious offence to the name of the Prime Minister being tarnished by Rahul Gandhi. Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had questioned the Congress’ move of trying to link the Nirav Modi-Mehul Choksi PNB scam with PM Modi.

This notwithstanding, Rahul Gandhi today questioned the PM through the twitter hashtag and also said, “Under Modi ji’s Jan Dhan Loot Yojana, another scam of Rs 390 crore involving a Delhi-based jeweller. Same modus operandi as Nirav Modi, fake LOUs. “Predictably, like Mallya and Nirav, this promoter too has disappeared while the government looked the other way. #ModiRobsIndia.”

Earlier in the day, the Congress fielded former minister Kapil Sibal to ask questions of the government. He called PM Modi the “most expensive watchman”.
