Rajya Sabha on Thursday was forced to adjourn for an hour—till noon—due to protests by opposition members as their notices for suspension of business to discuss on a range of issues, including electoral bonds and disinvestment of PSUs, were turned down by Chairman Venkaiah Naidu.

The opposition benches erupted in protest after Naidu announced that he was disallowing the notices.

It was apparent that the opposition benches were working on a floor-strategy to corner the government.

When the members, mainly of the Left and the Congress, did not heed to Naidu's call to allow the House to function, he adjourned it.
