Udaipur boy tops JEE with 100% score

NEW DELHI:Kalpit Veerval, hailing from Udaipur in Rajasthan, has topped the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Main with a perfect 100 per cent score.

New Delhi, April 27 

Kalpit Veerval, hailing from Udaipur in Rajasthan, has topped the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Main with a perfect 100 per cent score.

The results of the exam conducted for admission to various engineering colleges, including the premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), were declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) here today.

Kalpit, who has scored 360 out of 360 in the JEE-Main, had earlier topped the Indian Junior Science Olympiad and the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE).

Over 10.2 lakh students had appeared for the exam at 1,781 centres in 113 cities  across the country. The examination was held on April 2 (offline) and April 8 and 9 (online). Candidates clearing the JEE-Main will be eligible to appear in the JEE-Advanced exam, 2017. The JEE is conducted for admission to B.Tech, BE and B.Arch programmes offered at IITs, NITs, IIITs and other government-approved engineering institutes.

Among girls, Vrunda Nandkumar Rathi, Poorva Garg and Narayana Jeevana Reddy came first, second and third. They stood 71, 96 and 102 in overall ranking.

Among the top 1,000, 932 were boys and 68 girls. The cut-off to appear in JEE (Advanced) has been set at 81. However, it will be different for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and physically handicapped candidates. — Agencies
