2 Bathinda farmers commit suicide

BATHINDA: Two farmers allegedly committed suicide in the district in the past 24 hours.

Two farmers allegedly committed suicide in the district in the past 24 hours. Farmer Jasbir Singh of Gill Patti village ended his life by jumping into a lake in Bathinda following a land dispute. His body was found this morning.

The police have booked Tej Singh of the same village on the complaint of deceased’s wife Husanpreet Kaur.

She alleged that her husband had entered into a land deal with Teja Singh, who had given Rs20,000 in advance to Jasbir.

The deal got cancelled and her husband returned Rs20,000, but Teja Singh wanted Rs20,000 more as per the deal.

She alleged that Teja Singh harassed and threatened them many a time, owing to which her husband ended his life.

In another case, Jaskaran Singh of Lehra Khana village committed suicide by jumping in front of a train last night. He was facing financial problems. The GRP have registered a case under Section 174 of the IPC.

According to his mother Jasveer Kaur, Jaskaran Singh was her only son and owned 2.5 acres. He had to give money to his wife after divorce. He had taken a loan of Rs4 lakh.
