Akalis: Breach of privilege against own MLAs

CHANDIGARH:The SAD today claimed that the Congress had committed a breach of privilege against its own legislators by “tapping” their phones and asked Speaker Rana KP Singh to initiate action against officials responsible for it.

Chandigarh, November 20

The SAD today claimed that the Congress had committed a breach of privilege against its own legislators by “tapping” their phones and asked Speaker Rana KP Singh to initiate action against officials responsible for it. He also demanded a separate criminal case in this regard.

In a statement here, SAD spokesperson and ex-minister Daljit Cheema said it was shocking that Congress legislators had accused their own government of “tapping” their phones during a meeting of the district grievances redressal committee in Patiala yesterday.  He said Congress legislator Madan Lal Jalalpur had even asked Cabinet minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, who was presiding over the meet, whether the “tapping” was being done at the behest of the state government, but he had refused to clarify the same.

Cheema said, “The SAD urges the Speaker to  protect the privacy of legislators which had been violated.” — TNS
