Breach in Gang canal damages cotton crop

ABOHAR: A breach in the Gang (Bikaner) canal, 21 km from Fazilka, submerged cotton and paddy crops besides green fodder spread over 3,000 acres in Ghattianwali Bodla, Ghattianwali Jattan and Aliyana villages on Monday.

A breach in the Gang (Bikaner) canal, 21 km from Fazilka, submerged cotton and paddy crops besides green fodder spread over 3,000 acres in Ghattianwali Bodla, Ghattianwali Jattan and Aliyana villages on Monday.

Water Resources Department superintending engineer Pradeep Rustogi said the breach had been plugged by deploying an excavator and JCB machines. The water supply would be released by tomorrow in phases, he added. — OC
