FIR against five for Rs 7-crore land fraud

ROPAR: The police have booked five persons for allegedly usurping land of a Balachuar resident worth Rs 7 crore.

Ropar, December 9

The police have booked five persons for allegedly usurping land of a Balachuar resident worth Rs 7 crore.

The complainant, Jagpal Singh, alleged that three of the accused claiming to be the director of company Gurkirpa Empires Private Limited signed an agreement with him for purchasing his land for Rs 7 crore in April 2010.

He said after signing the agreement he was not given a single penny and the accused sold his seven acres. He alleged that an assistant of a senior Congress leader is the company’s director since December 2009.

Balachaur DSP Rajpal Singh said Jagpal in his complaintclaimed that Tikka Singh of Dhahan village and Kewal Singh and Sukhdev Singh of Ropar signed an agreement to purchase seven acres owned by his wife Harbhajan Kaur at Siana village near Balachaur to set up a residential colony.

Jagpal claimed that though the price of the land was fixed at Rs 1 crore per acre, no money was paid to them. Later, they sold the land and kept on delaying the payment to his wife.

The special secretary of the senior politician claimed that he had left the directorship of the company within one month of joining it. On the contrary, his name is still mentioned as company’s director in the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs site.

The DSP said the role of another company director Manjit Kaur of Ropar and Sukhdeep Kaur, wife of Kewal Singh, came to fore, following which a case was registered against the five accused.— TNS
