Left to launch movement against policies of Centre

The Marxist Communist Party of India United (MCPIU) in its state-level delegate conference here has given a call to all Left parties to get united against forces, which are working to divide the country and also decided to launch people’s movement against the policies of central BJP government.

In a conference organised here last evening, the delegates alleged that the BJP government was pursuing the policies of intolerance. They also alleged that the state government had failed to help poor labourers and farmers of the state.

The conference was presided over by Labh Singh Bhangu from Patiala, Jang Singh Advocate Ludhiana, Raj Singh Akoi from Sangrur and Kirpal Singh Bir from Mansa. The political and organisational report of the past four years of the party was presented by comrade Mangat Ram. About 15 delegates discussed the report and the same was accepted. As many as 150 delegates from several parts of Punjab participated in the conference.

A 15-member state committee was constituted and Kiranjeet Singh Sekhon was elected secretary of the party of Punjab state. Forty delegates were also elected, who will participate in the All-India Party Congress of MCPIU from February 15 to 18 at Cochin in Kerala.

“Considering the deteriorating condition of the farmers and landless labourers of the country, all delegates were of the unanimous view that their debt must be waived. The recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission must be implemented immediately to save the farming community. The conference rejected the debt-related schemes of the state government as these are farce,” said Sekhon.
