A large number of panthic, radical and political leaders are expected to reach Bargari on Monday to participate in a ‘shaheedi samagam’ to mark as black day the fourth anniversary of the police firing that resulted in the killings of a few persons protesting the sacrilege incidents on October 14, 2015.

“The investigation in such cases has been intentionally sabotaged by Badal and Capt Amarinder’s governments. We are going to participate in shaheedi samagam to be organised by the victims’ families,” said Kanwar Pal Singh, spokesperson, Dal Khalsa.

Harpal Singh Cheema, president of Dal Khalsa, said Badal, Capt Amarinder, the police as well as the CBI were responsible for “subverting” the justice in sacrilege case. “The interests of Badal and Capt Amarinder have converged to sabotage the justice and the heavily politicised police force has helped its political masters to derail the investigation,” he alleged.

Sukhpal Singh Khaira, accompanied by representatives of several organisations, individuals, party colleagues and victim families of Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura police firing incidents, will observe October 14 as ‘black day’ at Bargari. “Our protest is against the denial of justice to victims and not punishing those responsible for the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib by successive governments,” alleged Khaira.
