Posters of JeM’s Zakir Moosa

New Delhi/Gurdaspur, Nov 16

The seat of power in the national capital — the South Block and the North Block —today saw an unusual alert pasted at the entrances of the historic buildings located atop the Raisina hill.

The alert had pictures of gun-totting terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) — a Pakistan-based banned terror organisation — along with a letter written by the IG (Counter-Intelligence) of Punjab Police warning that these terrorists are planning to target Delhi.

The Prime Minister’s Office, Defence Ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs are located in the South block. The Home Ministry, Finance Ministry and the Cabinet Secretary’s Office are in the North Block. There are separate entry gates to each of these and armed guards remain stationed there holding automatic weapons.

The pasting of alert at the entrances indicates the seriousness of the threat. It also aims at alerting employees and visitors to the seat of power. The Punjab Police alert says six-seven JeM terrorists are “planning to move towards Delhi” from Punjab.

Meanwhile, Gurdaspur SSP Swarandeep Singh has pulled up Dinanagar police officials for leaking intelligence inputs as regards JeM operative Zakir Moosa.

The department had circulated some inputs among its senior officers in that regard. However, due to a gaffe by the Dinanagar police these got placed in public domain.

“We have not released posters of Moosa. It was a secret input and we intended to keep it as such. However, some lower-rung officials committed a mistake, following which Moosa’s picture went viral on social media,” the SSP said. The SSP said he had pulled up officials for the negligence on their part. — TNS
