Fatehgarh Sahib, July 22

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh here today asked Nihang organisations to issue identity cards to their members so as to facilitate verification.

Giani Gurbachan Singh was addressing a gathering during the ‘bhog’ ceremony of Baba Pyara Singh, who was beheaded by another Nihang at Bibangarh Sahib Gurdwara here on July 13.

The Jathedar urged the state government to arrest the four co-accused in the murder case at the earliest. The main accused, Charanjit Singh, was arrested soon after the incident.

Baba Budha Dal chief Baba Balvir Singh alleged that Baba Pyara Singh was murdered under a conspiracy. He said the Nihang’s family had been targeted earlier.

SGPC member Karnail Singh Panjoli and members of other Sikh organisations were among those who paid tributes to Baba Pyara Singh.
