The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in a notice issued yesterday postponed the Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) to February 25, citing technical constraints.

This is the second time that the examination, which was first announced for December 11, has been postponed. The council had given the second date of February 11 as there had been allegations that the SCERT was conducting the exam in a hush-hush manner and over 100 qualified teachers and students missed to fill their forms due to a technical fault reported in the government website.

This time, the date has been postponed but no changes in the process for submission of online application and other activities related to the examination has been made.

Inderjeet Singh, Director, Public Instructions (DPI), Elementary, said, “We have postponed the dates owing to technical snags reported in the software as bank officials have not been able to provide confirmation receipts to the candidate for the fees deposited.”

Meanwhile, the candidates have expressed happiness over the delay and said, “As there is high competition among the candidates for the test and on an average less than 5 per cent of the candidates qualify the test every year, giving just three weeks to apply and prepare for the exam was not right. We are happy that it has now been again postponed,” said Mandeep Singh, one of the candidates.
