A 40-year-old resident of Joginder Nagar is battling for life after his wife, suspecting him of having an extra-marital affair, chopped off his sex organ with a knife while he was unconscious and flushed it down the toilet.
Azaad Singh is under treatment at a private hospital in Rama Mandi. His condition is said to be critical. The police have arrested his wife, Sukhwant Kaur, and recovered the knife.
Satinder Chaddha, ACP, said the couple had strained relations over the past many months due to Azaad’s alleged affair with a girl who had come here to study from Himachal Pradesh. They had a brawl when Azaad returned home early this morning. Sukhwant attacked him twice on the head with a rod. Azaad fell unconscious, following which she cut off his sex organ.
According to Dr BS Johal, who is attending on Azaad, the victim’s testicles are intact. “He might survive, but will not be able to lead a normal life. Due to the head injury, he is having repeated seizures,” he added.
On the complaint of Azaad Singh’s father, a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the woman.
