CHANDIGARH:Football Academy, Baddon, defeated Football Academy, Mahilpur, by a solitary goal to win the final (school category) of the 56th Principal Harbhajan Singh Memorial All-India Football Tournament at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur.

Chandigarh, February 21 

Football Academy, Baddon, defeated Football Academy, Mahilpur, by a solitary goal to win the final (school category) of the 56th Principal Harbhajan Singh Memorial All-India Football Tournament at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur.

Gagandeep scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute. In the semifinals of the college category, hosts Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur, outclassed Football Academy, Paldi, 4-0. Amit Kumar started the goal spree in the 32nd minute. Amarjit Singh scored a brace (40th min and 51st min) to make it 3-0. Navjot Paneser scored in the 65th minute to confirm the win. In the other semifinal, Government College, Hoshiarpur, defeated Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, 2-1. The Hoshiarpur boys scored the goal in the 94th minute but six minutes later, Balbir Singh levelled the score for the Jalandhar outfit. Manjinder Singh’s left-footer confirmed the berth for the Hoshiarpur boys in the final.
