Bengaluru, April 21

MS Dhoni was in line to pull off another incredible chase but ran out of luck as RCB managed to beat CSK by one run in another last-ball thriller. Chasing 162, CSK needed 26 off the last over, bowled by Umesh Yadav, and Dhoni almost achieved the target. Having consumed dot balls in the previous over, Dhoni went for the jugular and almost did it with three sixes and a four. With CSK needing two off the last ball, Yadav managed to bowl a slower delivery and Dhoni missed it. However, he and non-striker Shardul Thakur ran for a bye that would have tied the scores, but wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel managed to run Thakur out. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 84 off 48 balls. Parthiv Patel, who top-scored for RCB with a 37-ball 53, was named the Man of the Match. — PTI

Brief Scores: RCB: 161/7 (Parthiv Patel 53, Moeen Ali 26; D Chahar 2/25, R Jadeja 2/29) vs CSK: 160/8 (MS Dhoni 84, A Rayudu 29; D Steyn 2/29, U Yadav 2/47).
