“Destined to be sunk”

A CALUCTTA paper says with reference to the sinking of the "Bangalee" that it is the common talk in the city that it was "destined to be sunk" for two runs. One is that it was risky to have sent out a vessel of its type even to face a moderately rough passage down the Bay. Secondly it was altogether inadvisable to have ventured into the open sea at this time of the year when rough weather and high water were certain. If these are true, there must have been something wrong with the project and a sifting enquiry ought to be made in to the matter.
