Compulsory Return Tickets to Haj Pilgrims.

ON Saturday evening last a crowded meeting of Bombay Moslems was held in the Hall of the Anjuman-i-Islam to protest against the decision of Messrs. Turner Morrison and Co. to sell only return tickets to Mecca pilgrims. The chair was taken by Mr. Haji Usaf Ali Ismail who in a brief speech explained how within the last two years Messrs. Turner Morison and Co. had secured the agency of the Arab Company and practically got rid of all competition and how the new proposal to issue only return tickets on a payment of Rs. 125 for deck passengers would affect the interests of the poorer Hajis. The Hon'ble Moulvi Raffi-ud-din Ahmed moved a resolution strongly disapproving the action of the Company and appealing to Government to intervene in the interests of the pilgrims. The Hon'ble Sir Fazalbhoy Ibrahim moved the second resolution authorising a committee of leading citizens to approach the Government in the matter.
