The Kangra Temple

The rebuilding of the historic Kangra Temple, which was razed to the ground by the fatal earthquake of 1905, is proceeding its slow length owing to the apathy of the wealthy Hindu community. From a photographic reproduction of the new building as it stood at the time of the visit of the His Honour Sir Michael O’Dwyer, Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab on the 24th October last, it is gratifying to find that the main temple has reached the full height of 81 feet and the top pinnacle has been gilded and placed in position. Including the supplementary buildings a sum of Rs. 79,000 is needed, in addition to Rs. 40,000 for the provision of water, or a total of Rs. 1,19,000.
