Ojaswini Saraswat, a trainee of the Mohali Golf Range, won the Indian Golf Union (IGU) feeder tour sub-juniors’ girls E category, which concluded at the FRIMA Golf Course in Dehradun.

Eight-year-old Ojaswini had scores of 36 and 34 for a total of 2-under par 70 in the two-day tournament, where the par score for 9 holes was 36. She hit four birdies and one eagle in the two rounds and won by a staggering 12 strokes from her nearest competitor.

Ojaswini trains under Arjuna Awardee Harmeet Kahlon and now leads the IGU Merit List in her girls’ category E. She is a student of Manav Rachna International School and also plays at the Chandigarh Golf Club Course.

It is the first time that an Indian Golf Union (IGU) event was held in Dehradun and it saw a participation of over 80 golfers from all over North India, especially from Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan.

Players as young as five years competed with each other in five age categories in the 36-hole stroke-play competition. Meanwhile, five junior and sub-junior children from the Mohali Golf Range had also qualified for the FCG (Future Champions Golf) Callaway World Championship and FCG (Future Champions Golf) International Championship 2021 to be held in Southern California, USA, but could not travel due to the Covid -19 restrictions.
