CHANDIGARH:Top seed Garima Singh registered a 21-14 21-7 win over Naina Goyat to move into the women’s singles semifinals at the Chandigarh State Badminton Championship here today.

Top seed Garima Singh registered a 21-14 21-7 win over Naina Goyat to move into the women’s singles semifinals at the Chandigarh State Badminton Championship here today. 

Second seed Ishita came from behind to beat Nimanpreet Kaur 20-22 21-14 21-9, while Rashi Vashisht drubbed Seema Panchal 21-12 21-13. Sarushi Kanwar humbled Muskan Taya 22-20 21-16 in the quarterfinals.

Garima Singh also moved into the girls’ U-19 semifinals after she dismissed Nimar Kaur Virk in the quarterfinal. 

In other girls’ U-19 quarterfinal matches, Nimanpreet downed Naina Goyat 21-14 21-10, while Rashi rallied to beat Mili Verma 16-21 21-16 21-19. Arpita Malik trounced Tisha Giri 21-10 21-12.  

In the men’s singles competition, Abhishek Saini registered a 21-10 21-7 win over Ankit to seal a spot in the quarterfinals. 

Ram Moga beat Manik Guleria 21-11 11-21 21-18, while Sahil Kataria overcame Rajat Saini 21-16 15-21 21-17. Navdeep Singh drubbed Kevin 21-13 21-16 in the pre-quarters. 

Abhinav Thakur dismissed Bhuvan Kaushal 21-13 22-20 and Nitin Gupta dumped Abhishek Bhadra 21-9 21-7. Mohit Singh ousted Shaurya Mahajan 21-2 21-3, while Talwinder Singh tamed Nikhil 21-13 21-13.   

Nimar Kaur Virk, meanwhile, got the better of Aashna to enter the girls’ U-15 semifinals. Nimar won 21-16 21-11. 

Shagunpreet Kaur defeated Prachi Joshi 23-21 21-6, while Kanishka prevailed 21-15 21-19 against Rakshita Pahwa. Samreen Kaur Sandhu packed off Jasmeet 21-14 21-9 in the quarterfinals.
