High drama after girl dies at Mohali hospital

High drama prevailed at the Sector 71 hospital in Mohali when the family members of 19-year-old girl alleged that she died due to negligence on the part of the doctors here today.

A resident of Sector 42, Kavita, alleged that despite their repeated appeals, the authorities did not provide them the ‘summary’ of the treatment till the afternoon. Deceased Gurpreet Kaur, a BCom-I student, was admitted to the hospital on Monday evening after she complained of dehydration and loose motions.

Naveenpal Singh Lehal, SHO, said, “A police complaint has been received in this regard. The kin of the deceased have asked for a post-mortem of the deceased to ascertain the cause of her death. The police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. Further action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report.”
