Panchkula, November 18

After receiving a lukewarm response to the e-auction of school and hotel sites, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will now e-auction 50 commercial sites.

HUDA will hold an e-auction of commercial sites on December 6. The sites include booths, double-storeyed shops and shops-cum-office (SCO). For the first time after 16 years, HUDA will hold an auction of five-storeyed showrooms in the main city centre at Sector 5. Besides, some constructed booths and empty sites will also be auctioned.

Interested bidders will have to register themselves online by December 4. The e-auction will be held between 9 am and 2 pm.

Confirming the development, Estate Officer Vimal Deep said an e-auction of 50 commercial sites, including five-storeyed showrooms in Sector 5, would be held on December 6.

HUDA had failed to get any bidder for 10 commercial sites during an e-auction held on November 12. The 10 commercial sites included a hotel site in Sector 10 worth Rs 72 crore and a school site in the MDC, Sector 6, the reserve price of which was Rs 35 crore.

According to sources, in their report to the chairman of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), officials have stated that the auction had flopped because of the high reserve price.

Suresh Aggarwal and Jagdeep Atri, members of the Haryana Property Dealers Association, said Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) had fixed rates of commercial and residential sites on a par with those in Gurugram and Delhi.

They said the prices were even higher than Chandigarh as a result of which no one showed interest in the auction.

They said earlier bidders had to pay only 25 per cent of the amount at the time of the allotment of sites. However, now, they get the possession of land or built-up property only after paying the entire amount.  Haryana Urban Development Authority has been able to sell only 37 of 110 properties in nine auctions held during the past six months.
