Man’s mutilated body recovered in Dera Bassi

A mutilated body of an unidentified man was found in the forest area near Kuranwala village at Dera Bassi today.

The Investigation Officer said the Dera Bassi police received a call around 10.30 am regarding a dead body lying in the forest area near Kuranwala village.

After getting information, a police team reached there and cordoned off the area.

Efforts are on to ascertain the identity of the victim as no identity card or any other indication to his identity were found, said the official.

The police said they are preparing a list of men who have gone missing from the nearby areas and also across the city in the past few days.

Details of the man’s physical appearance have been uploaded and are also being shared with other police stations.

Meanwhile, the body has been kept in the mortuary at the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, for 72 hours for identification.

Further probe is on, the police added.
