Members of the Punjab Students Union (PSU) on Thursday staged a protest outside the District Administrative Complex to show their solidarity with students of Punjabi University, who were attacked during a protest recently.
They also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, addressed to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, in which they demanded that Punjabi University Registrar Manjit Singh Nijjer should be removed from the post at the earliest.
Further, they demanded that Professor Nishan Singh and chief security officer Capt Gurtej Singh should be dismissed, a case on the charge of attempt to murder should be registered against them and they should be arrested immediately so that they do not affect the atmosphere of the university.
They also stated that all demands of the agitating students should be accepted at the earliest.
Student leaders Sangeeta, Simranjeet Kaur, Sapna Rani and others led the protest.
