Two fugitive gangsters held with arms, ammo

NEW DELHI: The police apprehended two dreaded gangsters of the Sonu Daryapur gang namely Vijay Sehrawat (38) and Sanjay Lakra (47) yesterday and a large quantity of arms and ammunition were seized from their possession, said DCP PS Kushwah.

The police apprehended two dreaded gangsters of the Sonu Daryapur gang namely Vijay Sehrawat (38) and Sanjay Lakra (47) yesterday and a large quantity of arms and ammunition were seized from their possession, said DCP PS Kushwah.

They both were untraceable for the past more than 12 years. They are wanted in several heinous cases, including murder of police personnel, and under the MCOC Act. They were carrying Rs 2 lakh reward each for their arrest, he said.

They were frequently changing their hideouts and planning to eliminate witnesses of the cases against their gang members, if they refuse to turn hostile in the courts, the DCP said.

Yesterday, a specific information was received that today about 10.30 pm the will go to Pochanpur to meet their accomplices. A trap was laid and Sehrawat and Lakra were intercepted in a car which was found to be stolen.

One .38 bore revolver and 10 cartridges of .38 bore were seized from Sehrawat. Whereas, one loaded .32 bore pistol with eight live cartridges was seized from Lakda. On search of the stolen car one .32 loaded pistol having five live rounds and 107 live rounds of .32 bore cartridges were also seized. — TNS
