Ram Jethmalani was Sikhs’ true friend: Sarna

New Delhi, September 8

President of the Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi Paramjit Singh Sarna, while condoling the death of former Union Minister and senior Advocate Ram Jethmalani said “he was a true friend of the Sikh Community”.

Sarna recollected, how Jethmalani had filed a petition in favor of Sikh leaders who had been detained after Operation Bluestar in June 1984. The petition not only forced the government to release the Sikhs from jails, but the cases also had to be withdrawn.

Jethmalani saved Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar from hanging and fought a legal battle to get the sentence forgiven and released from prison. — TNS
