A 16-year-old girl was stabbed when she was returning home from a computer coaching class here on Tuesday evening.
The victim, Khushi alias Jaya, of Vijay Nagar was admitted to General Hospital. Her condition was said to be serious. She is a student of Class XI.
She and her brother Nikhil (12) were returning from the class when a youth accosted them. The youth attacked Khushi with a weapon.
As the people saw the youth attacking the girl, they rushed towards her but he managed to escape.
The police said Khushi was injured on the neck, hands, face and eyes.
The assailant was reportedly identified as Gurmeet of Jwa Colony, which is in the vicinity of Vijay Nagar. The cause of attack is not yet known.
