277 take part in 39th sports meet at Dayanand varsity

The closing and prize distribution ceremony of the 39th annual sport meet at Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kurukshetra, was held recently. As many as 277 students participated in various sports.

Hockey Olympian and a member of the Indian women’s hockey team, Navneet Kaur, was invited as the chief guest on the occasion. She said the ability to remain calm and taking appropriate decisions in certain situations was essential for every player to be successful. She exhorted them to adopt exercise, balanced diet and virtuous thoughts to achieve greater heights in the field of sports. Navneet honoured the students with medals and awards. The programme was presided over by Dinanath Arora, vice-president of the college’s managing committee. In the 800 m race, Kanwaljeet claimed the first position, while Kanya Saini remained at the second position and Manisha at third. In ‘chatti’ race, Pinki, Meena and Sarita bagged the first, second and third positions, respectively. In slow cycling race, Neha, Pratibha and Pinki claimed the first, second and third spots, respectively.
