Work on 28 projects announced by the Chief Minister, including 15 from the last tenure of the BJP government, are yet to commence in the district.

99 for Gharaunda

As many as 99 announcements were made for Gharaunda. Of those, 82 have been completed, 14 are in progress and three are still pending.

Pending projects to begin soon

I have taken up the matter with the higher authorities of the departments concerned regarding the projects that are facing issues. I am hopeful the pending projects will start soon and the undergoing projects will gain pace. Anish Yadav, Deputy commissioner

Most of those are either pending with the higher authorities over the approval of drawings or non-availability of land and or some other reasons. As per the information available, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had made 514 announcements from 2014 till date for the district, one of its constituencies represented by Khattar himself.

Of them, 423 have been completed, and works on 63 announcements is going on. The deadline of some of the projects, on which works are going on, have already elapsed, said an official.

The CM had announced maximum 136 projects for the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB), followed by 102 of PWD B&R, 63 of Panchayati Raj, 38 of the Urban Local Bodies Department, 26 of Irrigation, 22 of Health Department, 18 of Secondary Education, 15 of Sports, 13 each of Transport, Higher Education and HSVP.

Out of pending development works, maximum seven relate to Panchayati Raj, followed by five to PWD B&R, four each to HSAMB and Sports, three to Urban Local Bodies, two to Transport, one each to Irrigation, Elementary Education and Civil Aviation, he added.

The CM had made 117 announcements for Karnal constituency. Of those, 88 have been completed, while 16 are in progress and 13 are pending. Similarly, he had announced 112 for Nilokheri Assembly segment. Of those, 90 have been completed, 15 are in progress and seven are yet to commence.

As many as 99 announcements were made for Gharaunda. Of those, 82 have been completed, 14 are in progress and three are pending. Out of 94 announcements for Assandh segment, 79 have been completed, 12 are in progress and three are pending.

The CM had announced 92 projects for Indri segment. Of those, 84 have been completed, six are in progress and two are yet to start, said an official. The expansion of aviation club was announced by the CM after assuming charge, but due to lack of availability of land, work could not be started.

Similarly, a district-level training centre for self-help group at Bastara was also announced, but due to land issue, it is still pending. A badminton hall was to be constructed in Karna Stadium, but work could not commence as the drawing of this project is pending with the higher authorities for approval.

The land for the bus stand in Nilokheri was finalised, but its drawing is also pending with the higher authorities for approval, said sources. Construction of PWD rest house at ITI Chowk is pending.

Similarly, the work on widening of Karnal-Meerut road is also running behind deadline which was February 2022, the sources maintained.

Anish Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, said that he had reviewed all the CM’s announcements recently and would review the progress after 15 days again. “I have taken up the issues that some projects are facing with the higher authorities of the departments concerned. I am hopeful the pending projects will start soon and the undergoing projects will gather pace in the coming days,” said the DC.
