4-year-old sexually assaulted

A four-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a youth in a village falling under Pratap Nagar block of Yamunanagar district.

On the complaint of the victim’s father, a case was registered against Sandeep Kumar (18) under Section 376-AB (whoever commits rape on a woman under twelve years of age) of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act at Pratap Nagar police station on May 27.

Pratap Nagar SHO Shamsher Singh said the accused had been arrested. He said he was produced before a court on Friday and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

According to information, the child was playing outside the village temple situated close to her house around 5.30 pm on Wednesday. The accused came there and took the child to a lonely place near the temple where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

“After the attack, the girl came weeping to her mother and told her about the incident. She was very nervous and was suffering from severe pain,” alleged the complainant.
