The Central Pollution Control Board has issued notice to five industrial units in Bari and Sonepat industrial areas in the district. The units’ owners have been told to take immediate steps to stop the release of chemically polluted water from the units.
The owners have been cautioned that if the necessary steps are not taken, the supply of electricity and water could be stopped. This action has been taken following some deficiencies in the samples of the released water during testing in the laboratory.
There were complaints about the release of chemically polluted water in the open area as well as in the sub-soil water by the units located in these industrial areas.
Acting on these complaints, teams were sent by the board for taking samples of the water being released by the units during April and May.
President of the Bari Industrial Association, Shamsher Singh, said most units were taking all precautionary steps with regard to pollution. If any deficiency is pointed out in the notices, it would be rectified, he added.
