While the news of deteriorating air quality, smog and increasing pollution prevailed in the entire region around the Diwali festival, officials of a newly constructed police station in Rohtak took an eco-friendly initiative by planting saplings in and around the police station.

Inspector Rakesh Kumar, SHO of IMT Police Station in Rohtak, said as many as 650 saplings were planted on and around the campus on the occasion of Diwali.

“The building has been constructed recently and there was no tree on the premises. Hence, we decided to plant saplings in and around the police station and chose the auspicious occasion of Diwali for the initiative,” he stated.

Appreciating their efforts, SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said the police officials had set a good precedent and gave out the message to conserve the environment.
