Two miscreants assaulted a shopkeeper and looted cash at a knife point near Ram Lal Chowk on the Panipat-Assandh road in the city yesterday night. The incident was recorded in a CCTV camera installed in the shop.
Arun Garg, a resident of Narayan Singh Park Colony, in a complaint to the Model Town police, stated that, “I was in my shop ‘Garg Karyana Store’ near Ram Lal Chowk on the Assandh road around 10 pm on Friday night. Meanwhile, two youths arrived there and asked for a cigarette. They then went out. After some time they again came to the shop and one of them assaulted me while the other looted money from the shop”.
“The youth who assaulted me pointed a sharp-edged knife at me and threatened me of dire consequences,” he said. The miscreants fled after looting Rs 5,000 from the shop, said police sources. The incident was recorded in a CCTV camera installed in the shop and the video clip went viral in the city today. The faces of both miscreants are clearly visible in the CCTV recording and police teams are tracing them.
Inspector Narendr Dahiya, SHO, Model Town, along with a team visited the shop in the night and took the CCTV camera footage. “A case has been registered against two persons. Teams have been constituted to nab the accused,” he said.
