About 92 per cent candidates appeared in the written examination for recruitment of 1,334 constables held at 87 centres in the state today. Of the total 75,803 candidates, 69,427 appeared in the test while 122 candidates were restricted and 6,254 were absent.
The 122 candidates, who were involved in the constable recruitment examination paper leak, were not allowed from appearing in the examination as they had indulged in foul means. As many as 1,87,476 applications were received for the posts and 75,803 candidates qualified the physical efficiency test and physical standards test.
CCTV cameras were installed in all examination centres. Provisions of hand-held metal detector and door-frame metal detector were made at the entrance of the centres and 1,351 jammers were installed in almost all examination centres to restrict all kinds of external communications through electronic devices.
Centre Superintendents and invigilators were hired from government and private educational institutes for fair and smooth conduct of exam. Flying Squads headed by Superintendents of Police and Commandants were constituted for surprise checking, besides deployment of Vigilance teams for surveillance.
