Conference on women's rights

In a mock Model United Nation (MUN)-2022 conference on women’s rights, organised on the premises of Sanawar Lawrence School, the delegates of 13 nations reached a consensus that democracy defends rights of women and therefore there is a strong case of strengthening democratic values across the world. On the sideline of the two-day Dodransbicentennial celebrations that began on Thursday, the current and old students congregated at the historical warrior’s grove to deliberate upon the issue of women’s rights and its impact on global peace and progress.

‘Irregularity’ in profs’ recruitment

The Himachal Pradesh Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has raised questions over “corrupt practices” in the recruitment of teaching faculty by HPU VC SP Bansal. The SFI said two posts of professors in the Biotechnology Department were advertised in December 2019, for which many applications were received. Similarly, in 2020, one seat of professor in the Department of Physical Education was advertised. In February, one seat of a professor from the Biotechnology Department was shifted to the Physical Education Department, claimed the SFI. The post, which was advertised two years back, has been shifted to another department. The SFI has demanded the withdrawal of the decision.
