Mandi/Hamirpur, July 22
Congress activists took out a protest march in Mandi today against the questioning of AICC president Sonia Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
A large number of Congress workers led by Mandi District Congress Committee chief Prakash Chaudhari, besides Kaul Singh Thakur and former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sohan Lal Thakur took part in the protest.
Chaudhari said that the Central Government was misusing the ED and the CBI to target its political opponents. Kaul Singh said that the BJP was trying to intimidate Congress leaders.
In Hamirpur, the district Congress staged a protest at the Gandhi Chowk. It also submitted a memorandum to the President through the Hamirpur Deputy Commissioner, alleging misuse of law enforcement agencies by the Central Government.
Rajinder Rana, an HPCC working presiden, claimed that court had dismissed cases against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The BJP was trying to tarnish the image of the party leaders. Rajinder Zar, president of the DCC, said the ED investigation into the National Herald case was unconstitutional.
